LIL KYDD
Producer/MC and Visual Artist, Lil Kydd!? is from Hazel Crest, IL. Lil Kydd is one half of the collaborative group with DrxQuinnx known as "The Citizen". His approach to music and art takes the four tenets of hip hop and uses them to portray his evolving view of his surroundings. Taking elements of Chicago Juke, Jazz, Trap, Trip Hop, Deconstructed Boom Bap, and a few nods to anime, gaming, and internet culture sprinkled in and it’s the formula for the Lil Kydd!? sound. Having been born in the South Side of Chicago and relocated to its Southern Suburbs as a youth, Lil Kydd!? likes to think he has a faraway seat to the epicenter of what he maintains is the second renaissance of Hip Hop.
During his time at Homewood-Flossmoor High School, he had co-founded a collective with rapper James Gold, Lost in 312. The collective shows the talents of creative minds from within the community. During his time studying Graphic Design at Columbia College Chicago, he has introduced himself among a variety of crowds and circuits including playing for Biggest Mouth at Metro, helping open for Murs at Subterranean, doing open mics all around the city, and finding an artistic home at Young Chicago Authors. Lil Kydd!? strives to make music that is thought-provoking and fully captures his experiences with humor, perspective and wit.
Lil Kydd!? has done musical work with talents such as DRXQUINNX, Jun Chikuma, Sinitus Tempo, Vic Spencer, Aakeem Eshu, O. Bonjour, Black Chidori, Chris Crack, and Denmark Vessey to name a few.
